In the college and outside the college, in different community settings, through practical demonstrations, role-plays, group–discussions, lectures, slide presentation, community counseling, models and poster display, public campaigns and practice of all the Primary Health Care delivery components in different situations.

In the Field. Following procedures are carried on : Nutritional Education & Assessment. Sanitation monitoring. Communication skills Reproductive  and child health care Anthropometric studies. Referral services. Registration of families. Data collection  . Record keeping etc. Management of minor ailments, endemic diseases, deficiency disorders Distribution of essential drugs, Educational material , contraceptives, ORS packets. Immunization. Disease surveillance Patient follow up. Laboratory Investigations Urine albumin, urine sugar, blood sugar, hemoglobin, thick & thin smear slides. water sample collection ,blood grouping Visit to: Basic Health Unit,  Rural Health Center, Filter Clinic, Infectious Disease Hospital EPI  Centre, Factory, MCH Center Family Planning Center, Water Testing Lab., Food testing Lab... (A) Exposure of students to various focal points  of public health importance and to observe the        actual working of these facilities:-

Department  of community medicine has been actively involved in  community based training since its inception.  A study of demographic and socio-economical status of

Slums in Lahore was started in 1985 and the following randomly selected slums were studied by the medical students under the supervision of staff of community medicine department.
